In late March, 2020 I lost my new job due to the COVID pandemic. I found myself at home and very isolated. My husband was still able to report for work out of the house at the time. It was a lonely and unsettling time. I decided I needed bite-size projects to keep myself occupied. Art supply stores were closed with online shopping only, which I decided against due to cost. I decided my living room wall would become my palette. As it was spring time, I was becoming an avid bird watcher. We live on an acreage with many grown trees and shrubs, a real attractive haven for migrating birds. I started journaling any new birds I would see visiting our yard and would paint their portrait.

I did one bird painting a day for 70 days straight. I posted the paintings daily to social media and it became a way to connect with others when connection was so limited.

My entire living room wall is covered with birds! I’ll most likely never change this view.
